Effects
Effects can be added to any box, but only to the areas where that box touches the 3D printer build plate. The build plate itself is what creates these effects. Since Lids are printed upside down, we can add one of these fun characteristics to them. The base of your vial storage is printed right side up so the bottom is what is touching the build plate and can also have this feature added.
Effects: Effects, on the other hand, transfer a pattern and an additional holographic effect. That affect will vary dramatically depending on the type of filament that gets used, the color of the filament, and your lighting conditions. While they can be a lot of fun to add to every vial storage, they are also prone to showing fingerprints and smudges the most, so that is something to be aware of.
Filament Types
Single Color Filament
With single color filament, the whole roll consists of one single color. The single strand that comprises the whole roll is uniform in its color characteristics.
Dual Extrusion Filament
With dual color (dual extrusion) filament, the strand that makes the roll is comprised of two colors sitting side by side. Both colors are being printed at the same time, resulting in a color variation throughout different layers. This color variation can be seen from the top to the bottom of the print, as well as when you look at it from different angles.
Tri Extrusion Filament
Similar to the dual extrusion, except a third color is included in each strand.
Ombre/Rainbow Filament
Ombre/Rainbow filament prints one color at a time, but as the roll gets used, that strand of filament slowly shifts from one color to another. An entire roll of filament could have as many as 20 color changes. The amount of color change that will be visible on the vial storage is a direct result of the amount of material used.
When a Ombre/Rainbow filament is used as the primary selection for your pod you will most likely see quite a bit of color change. Which makes this less than ideal to use for the secondary color choice because very little plastic is used on the secondary filament.
Filament Selection
Primary Filament
The primary filament will be the type/colors the majority of the box will be. If you do not pick a secondary filament then the primary filament is what the whole vial storage is printed with.
